Best meals
This is an old list that's been updated...it started with a discussion I was having with friends about the best places we've eaten.
I've had many memorable meals, from fine dining places to greasy spoons and hole-in-the wall ethnic restaurants. I couldn't think of just one place...so I decided to try and break it down by restaurant type and have some fun. Obviously, this is highly subjective...but here goes:
Brewpub: Ram's Head Tavern, Annapolis, MD
Brunch: Chow, San Francisco, CA
Coffee Shop: Bongo Java/Fido, Nashville, TN
Creole: K-Paul's, New Orleans, LA
Chinese: (Tie) Emperor's Choice, Chicago, IL and Lucky Creation, San Francisco, CA (in respective Chinatowns, of course)
Deli: Times Deli Cafe, New York, NY
Dessert: Angelo Brocato, New Orleans, LA (Italian Ice) and Kerryman, Chicago, IL (Chocolate Cake)
Diner: Mel's Drive-In, Los Angeles, CA
French: The Brasserie, New York, NY
Hamburger: Yo Mama's, New Orleans, LA
Indian: Hema's Kitchen, Chicago, IL
Italian: Da Nico, New York, NY (in Little Italy, natch)
Japanese: Morimoto, Philadelphia, PA
Korean: 88 Tofu House, Atlanta, GA
Mexican: Rose Pepper, Nashville, TN
Middle Eastern: Lebanon''s Cafe, New Orleans, LA
Pizza: Tedino's, Chicago, IL
Seafood: (Tie) Chart House, Annapolis, MD and ACME Oyster House, New Orleans, LA
Southwestern: Mesa Grill, New York, NY
Sushi: Ru San, Atlanta, GA
Thai: Seeda Thai II, New York, NY
Vegetarian/Vegan: The Chicago Diner, Chicago, IL
Vietnamese: Pho Tau Bay, New Orleans, LA
