Help me out motherfuckers. I have this web page now, but I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do with it. Give me ideas! Give me content! I put up some whack image I threw together real quick as a place holder so that the domain name would actually appear on-line, but aside from that I got nothing. If anyone has ANYTHING AT ALL they want to ( Read more... )

I have a book on self publishing (which I haven't read though) but this is basically how it works:

-If you're going to self publish, all you need to do is create your work, ink it, letter it (probably not color it, except for the cover, as it's significantly more expensive to print a full color book) then scan all that shit into a computer and save it as a .pdf file. Then you send the .pdf file to a printer, such as http://www.icomics.com/hbps/ or
http://www.egoworks.com/dreamweaverpress/printing.html
Then you find a way to distribute it yourself, either by showing up at stores and asking if they'll carry it, starting a website and promoting that, calling distributors, etc.

-If you want to go big, you have to either generate enough regular sales on your own to get Diamond Distributors (not a joke on my name either, that's the actual company) interested in soliciting you to retailers, or submit a pitch to a bigger company to get them to take you under their imprint. It usually helps to have an established reader base when doing this as well. The best places to look to are Image Comics (http://www.imagecomics.com) or Darkhorse Comics (http://www.darkhorse.com) as those are the two biggest companies that will actually pick up books by unknowns and still let them retain ownership of their intellectual property.

That's about as far as my knowledge goes. Check out this site:

and scroll down to the bottom part about self publishing if you want a more in depth analysis.

I think this is the best idea ever, so if people are willing to invest a couple hundred bucks each, I'd fucking fork over the cash in a heart beat.
