A friend of mine is on his death bed at the moment and his body is failing. He has lived a life of such integrity, inteligence, and honor that he has earned the repsect and admiration of viturally all who know him (the few exceptions I know of have been people who beccome uncomfortable when they are around people who are at peace with who they are and hold themselves to high standards). Right now his body is barely more than technically still functioning and he requires so many pain killers that there is no way his brain could possibly maintain the ability to interact coherintly.

Despite all of this he still has amazing self respect and integrity. He is barely able to move or communicate, yet his every motion is filled with self respect (not arogance) and integrity. He is still the kind of person that doesn't demand so much as evokes respect. I am amazed at how resilient respect (both self respect and the respect of others) and integrity when truly earned are, and amazed at how this man holds onto them beyond when most would think possible.

He is a friend that will be missed by many.
