This past weekend I moved to Minneapolis from St. Paul, where I have spent the past year - not entirely happily but not entirely unhappily. From what I can tell, many Minneapolitans (including the librarian who helped me today switch my library card back to the Minneapolis system) seem to grab any opportunity they can to gently poke fun at our unassuming neighbor city, in a nudge-wink-guffaw sort of way. I really doubt St. Paul is much worse, or much better for that matter, and if I hadn't crossed the border a year ago it's unlikely I would have had any better of a time. I would have still had a poor-paying job at a bookstore. Luckily, things might change soon: it looks like I have something full-time lined up. Tomorrow should be my first day, but my new union started its strike today, and I don't plan on going in until everything on that front has been resolved.
After moving my things and unpacking them, I am thus far unable to locate the two boxes of q-tips I had packed somewhere or other. Normally a day without giving my ear canals a little cotton sweep would be one of the worst kind of days, so you might imagine the hard time I'm having now that it's been 4 or 5 days and I've gone through everything of mine several times already. Let's forget about Steve Fossett for a minute and send out the search parties for what really matters.
