I woke up with "Sic Transit Gloria" running through my head

The camping trip was a last minute adventure. Picked up Madeleine from Seattle at 7pm and arrived at Tinkham campgrounds (exit 42!) around 9ish. Me and Madeleine laughed so hard that night. Funny thing is is that I don't remember what was so hilarious; my never-ending peeing in the outhouse? Our clumsy hand movements resulting in beer soaked asses? We began by keeping track of the beers we drank by the tallies on our arms but that idea was soon discarded, along with other rational thought processes. There was a heated debate between Jon and Madeleine over the Dark Ages and were they really that dark and I wanted to jump in with my own remarks but just watching them interact and go at it was satisfying enough. And I couldn't help but think that for the last couple of years I've been surrounded by people with remarkable intelligence and unsurpassable curiosity and how that pushed me even further. Jon then serenaded the whole campground at 3am or 4am. The first songs were soft, being weary of our tented neighbors, but as the repertoire progressed he forgot about being respectful of others sleeping and began to bellow the songs. There was a point during the night when we noticed that we were running out of fire wood so we clasped hands and snaked our way to the nonexistent "hosts". With no flashlight, blanketed by darkness, afraid that we would be caught stealing the wood. Because I had to be at work at 11am the next morning me, Madeleine and Kahlua left the boys to trek our way back quite hungover.
