I'd smoked my mind the night before with cigarettes and songs I'd been picking

that is the car ride from Moses Lake. the disappointing thing about it is that it's one of the few pictures that I have of that weekend. i was too drunk and stoned out of my head to actually remember to go to the tent and get my camera out of my bag. the days began slowly with a bowl and a beer for breakfast. it was so hot that you could see the heat leaving the body in waves and the only thing you could do was waddle into the water. all of this was surprisingly quite ordered and each action would knowingly precede the next. the ritual was to take out all the floating devices including the cooler, pack it up with ice and beer, connect each floaty together and push out into the middle of the lake. this took up most of our time and the first day we learned that too much sun is not a grand idea as we massaged aloe-vera into our blood red stomachs and various appendages. {i can't slouch or curl up anymore because of my stomach and chest}. my thumb has a blister, a nice reminder from the times that i had to light a lighter. and i laugh that it seemed that the four of us, the hippies, were segregated from the rest of the group. and there were people that i rather would not like to meet again. but you can't choose the crowd so you leave it at that and take another sip of vodka. the lined up bottles on the porch railing was a nice ending touch, though, and i wish that all of life's daily tasks were filled with the same profundity and nonsense that was meshed within that weekend.
