Made dinner tonight, a minuscule distraction for my mom, both parents huddled around the TV watching the various documentaries on the late Pope. My dad has been drinking again for the past couple of days and surprisingly reminds me of a washed out Dude from the Big Lebowski in his striped bathrobe. He has a black eye from a 2x4 attacking him and seems to have broken the vicious cycle by going to church today. I amuse myself thinking how it might've been my mom that prescribed the black eye. Tearing basil, never chop never, my favorite part of the documentary are the old senile men congregated in a circle talking about their school years with Karol Wojtyła. Each interferes every minute or so to correct one another about the school sitting arrangement or who was on who's soccer team. I find it all endearing while I place the baguettes into the oven.

+ 1 large onion
+ lots lots of fresh basil
+ a couple of cloves of garlic(can't go wrong with that.never)
