*Prologue*
Ding Dong Ding Dong
The grandfather clock stuck on the wall of a very cosy and cute room chimed when it stroke twelve of midnight, indicating a very special day to the body sleeping snugly on the bed in the middle of the said room.
But, the body on the bed sprang out of the cover, all of a sudden, to reveal a girl of seven years. She was pretty little girl who had big twinkling brown eyes, cute little round nose and a pair of beautiful bow-shaped lips with a striking little mole right above her lips.
Today was Jung Jiyool’s birthday. She turned eight years old today and she was smiling gleefully to herself. She bent down and peeked under her bed for a particular white envelope. When she found it above a gift box, she couldn’t help but reach it.
She took the envelope on her hands as she watched it carefully. ‘To Jung Jiyool’ the envelope addressed. She opened the envelope on her hands, frantically, as she couldn’t contain herself. She received an envelope like this consecutively for four years now. It was a gift from her mother who passed away three days later after she gave birth. And, Jiyool anticipated this gift the most among all the others she would receive. It connected her to her mother.
She opened the letter inside the envelope eagerly and read through it.
My dearest Jiyoolie,
"Hi mom" replied Jiyool back to the letter, smiling ear to ear.
How are you my dear?
"I am fine mom." Jiyool replied to the question written on the letter by her deceased mother.
Oh, and before I forget ‘Happy Birthday to You. Happy Birthday to You. Happy Birthday my dear Yoolie, Happy Birthday to You. YAY!!!’
"Thank you so much, mom" Jiyool said happily.
My Jiyoolie is a big girl today. I’m so happy for you. I wish I was there to kiss and hug you today. I miss you already. Do you miss me, dear?
"Yes mom. I miss you so much" said Jiyool with tears threatening to fall from the corner of her eyes.
