I called my mom today and she noted that it was her 35th anniversary yesterday. They actually drank some champagne and everything. Not bad considering they were married by a drunken mayor in Dover, N.H., in Jesus' name, and only because they thought it would make life easier for when they had me. And it only took them like 30 or so years to actually remember the date. ETA: I just talked to my sister and she said they did indeed call my aunt again this year to make sure they had the right day and ask how long it had been.
But they make me laugh. My dad apparently told my mom that it was more like 17 and a half because they spend so much time apart (driving in separate cars to places and everything).
Then, when I told my mom "Here's to 35 years more," her exact words were "God forbid." My parents really don't want to be old.
