I am happy to say that despite showing up 45 minutes late for the interview, I still got the job. Also, yesterday I quit EB.
Basically, for a company that pushes us to mention deals and promotions to every customer, mercilessly offer warantees and EDGE cards and know every square inch of product we have covering the walls, they sure as hell don't pay us much. Until just recently, I was making $0.03 more/hour than a Burger King new hire. Plus, I think it would be a lot better for my wallet and maybe my social life if I wasn't constantly surrounded by videogames and people whose sole reason for being in the store is to talk about videogames. If you pretty much got paid to talk about anything for 8 hours a day, it starts to work it's way into your brain. Plus, one of the new guys they hired is a real bigot. His favourite game is Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and here's probably why.
I figure working at HMV will just be another case of same shit, different pile, but whatever pays for tuition will suffice for now. Speaking of which, who still wants my PSP? I have a lot of people interested! Who wants to step up to the plate?
