Man we were refreshing google news every 5-10 min to find out the result since 1:30 pm. When it finally updated, I was surprised. Since there was no picture I can't confirm that you were wearing a red shirt or not. I guess winning the grand slam will have to wait. Congrats to Wei-Hwa though.

Congratulations on a fine finish Saturday, Tom. Your showdown with Huang had us out of our seats!

Regardless of whether or not I agree with your statement, it's important to note that he has earned the right to think that way, if he so desires, due to his past performances. There's hardly a person out there who can compete at his level.

Not to mention that Snyder always downplays his Sudoku accomplishments. Besides... if he weren't so confident, what fun would there be in (eventually) beating him?! :D

Do the puzzles from the championship get posted anywhere? anonymous October 30 2008, 19:54:51 UTC
It would make me feel better (I don't know how) to be able to re-do all of the puzzles, seeing as how for the second straight year I barely missed out on making the finals in the intermediate section.

I prepared for this as if it was going to be the same format as last year. By the third round, my head was really starting to hurt!

Yeah, I find that I'm good for about an hour of heavy lifting before my brain starts feeling blown out. I'd planned to sit out round 1 (Expert Level), figuring that way I wasn't competing against Thomas in the second and third rounds. But I DID do it, finishing just under the wire, and the five minute breaks had me at blow-out level about ten minutes into Round 3. Finished 6th overall in Round 2, however ( ... )

That's a turn up for the books, I have to say! Any further news on whether the puzzles will be made available?
