Friday Puzzle #132 - Holiday Hunt

Dec 23, 2011 10:00

As announced earlier this week, today's Friday Puzzle is a four-part holiday treasure hunt for my fans that travels through some of my past work including my books.

Each step will yield an answer or code that you should enter as a web address. Specifically, go to
grandmasterpuzzles.com/holiday2011/youranswer.html
with any of your answers going in place of "youranswer" above. Use only lower-case letters and numbers, no symbols or spaces. Reaching a new page will confirm you have completed the step, and may give you more information to use for the next step. There is no web-page for the final answer, but when you think you have it you should email me at motris at yahoo dot com. If you run into trouble along the way, feel free to contact me at motris at yahoo dot com too and I'll help out as seems fair.

Finishers will:
A) Officially become my #N fan for the next year, based on the order of finish. This can be shared publicly, or not, depending on your preference.
B) Get a chance to win one of two prize packages which will include a custom puzzle design of your choice, and signed copies of my next two books. If N people finish, solver M will get (N+1)-M entries into the drawing, so finishing sooner will increase your chances.

You'll find the page for part one by answering this clue:
Overused themes, or items "roasting on an open fire"

Enjoy!

ETA: An additional clue to part 3 was added on December 24th at 1 PM EST/10 AM PST to help those struggling with it.
ETA2: A bug with how some html content displays on different browsers has been addressed, as of 5 PM EST on Dec. 24th.
ETA3: While I've identified a lot of fans, I always want more, so I added an example for part 3 at 1 PM EST on Dec. 27th. If you are really stuck anywhere in the hunt, feel free to email me.
