Friday Puzzle #118 - Arrow Sudoku

Sep 09, 2011 00:13

Frequent readers here will know that my favorite sudoku variation is Arrow Sudoku. It will be one of the featured types in my next sudoku variations book, and this week it is again an entry for my Friday Puzzle, its fifth appearance. This week's edition is also meant as a teaser for Rohan Rao's LMI Sudoku Test this weekend, "Crazy Arrows", which has a lot of intriguing Arrow Sudoku variations.

Rules: Enter a digit from 1 to 9 into each cell so that no digit repeats in any row, column, or 3x3 region. Digits in the circled cells represent the sum of the digits along the path that each arrow travels. The circle in the center cell is the root of four different arrows; for each of these four arrows the sum of the numbers in the arrow equals the value in the center cell. Digits can repeat within an arrow sum, provided this does not violate the standard sudoku rules.
