Of course you could always just stream the episodes out so far, but who wants to watch TV when reading words takes you anywhere you want to go with the magic of imagination
The story of Number Six takes place in a dystopian future where humanity has been enslaved by bees.
The first part is just about a person called Shion who we later find out is a boy. Shion lives with his mom, who named Shion what he's named because she is really unhappy because she is so rich.
Shion is unhappy as well because he's starting to figure out he's gay and this one girl that likes him keeps trying to come over to his house and stuff. Also because he has undiagnosed autism. Someone also has a grandma but the grandma doesn't matter.
The city everyone lives in is called Number Six, like the show. The mayor of the city is bees.
In the first episode a beautiful boygirl gets into Shion's room somehow and bleeds everywhere and tries to kill Shion and sleeps on his bed. The two of them hold hands which is like touching penises by 90s anime standards and become secret boyfriends.
This won't happen in real life though so don't leave your balcony open at night.
In the second episode Shion has a shitty job because he has refused to live by society's standards. In this episode Shion is suddenly 16!!
I was mad too.
What happens is one day Shion's coworker finds out about Operation Honeycomb and dies mysteriously.
The mayor of Number Six gets mad so Shion goes to live with his boyfriend, who is now a starving actor but knows a lot due to reading plays I guess. I can't super tell because of some of the directing but I think they have sex.
Shion's mom misses him, but meanwhile she is having a really great time being poor and working hard every day, plus Dr Tenma stops by sometimes to flirt with her, so everyone is happy.
Katara is also in this show for some reason but you can tell the ATLA money has basically gone up her nose.
Shion gets a baito washing dog corpses.
He and his boyfriend are quickly welcomed by the neighborhood gay community.
The show keeps trying to demonstrate now incredible things are for them in bed.
I don't totally remember what else happens to them but it's basically a LOT of cool stuff. Like they argue a lot, but then they touch each other's cheeks and stuff to demonstrate that their arguments are not so serious. Their relationship reminds me of when my parents got a divorce.
What they need to do is solve the bee mystery and learn the truth about everything, because there is no time. Unfortunately Shion is autistic so he can't solve a mystery on his own. He doesn't understand how to walk down a street or what sex is, and his only friends are mice whom he has given names like Cravat. But Shion's boyfriend has a lot of problems too. Like he comes home late from work all the time and keeps saying he's tired. But we find out later he's really just busy with his acting, so it's ok. One day Shion sees him in a play.
Shion's boyfriend reads a lot of Shakespeare books because he has trouble with his emotions, and also because in movies people always read Shakespeare if they're supposed to be discerning or romantic. Ellen Kushner would like this show a lot.
I think Infinite Jest would have been a way better choice ^^^ there but then again I am much smarter than most people.
Anyway I hope this story has a cool ending! Let's all watch the episodes and try to solve the mystery together.
