Well, decided to post up since things are slow. Back in last May I purchased a pretty rare beast, a 1995 BMW 540i with 6-speed manual transmission. Lots has transpired, and here's how the car is kinda sitting now:
The major cosmetic changes are an M5-style trunk spoiler and 18" M-Parallel wheels(replicas, actually; had to take them off for now until I can get hubcentric rings in as I got the wrong hub size, but that's life). Mechanically, this car has been a handful but has been worth it. 300HP and nearly 30mpg on the highway is a decent combination.
Here's the list of work that's been done so far:
Intake manifold gaskets, valley pan, water pump, knock sensors, and various coolant seals.
Motor and transmission mounts.
Idler pulley seized on me outside a furmeet, stranding me in Denver at 2AM one morning. Fun story behind that one.
Guibo and driveshaft carrier bearing.
Clutch went at 204K; shifter bushings and various seals replaced at the same time.
Brake job(pads and rotors all around).
Front thrust arms replaced.
Here's what needs to be done:
New shocks all around
Rear pitman arms(possibly?)
Valve cover gaskets just started leaking
Power steering leak
Washer fluid leak
New intake hose
Blower motor resistor and cabin air filter
Replace heater valves, hoses, and auxiliary water pump.
I'm moving to Louisiana in a few months so all of this will need to be done in short order. I also have some interior cosmetic goodies to take care of if I get the chance. Hopefully I will.
