Some of the crap in my life finally fell through today, and it felt good to just let it out.
But, this morning was non-fulfilling. Everyone knows I've gained weight...a little over 20 pounds. So this morning my cross country coach and I were talking; a friend of mine happened to bump into him this weekend at a triathlon, and my name came up. One thing lead to another, and I told him how we raced together in a few races, and I could, on a good day, get the best of him.
"Don't worry about the short distance, you've always seemed like a long distance kind of guy. But man...if you lost 10 pounds, you'd be a beast."
You're welcome, Coach. I may be one of the slowest guys on the team, but when I'm not injured (even sometimes when I am), I go to practice, I run as hard as I can, and more importantly, put my time and effort into making sure the team obtained sufficient funds by my fundraising.
Effort just doesn't cut it anymore I guess. It's all about the performance on race day.
So be it.
