While watching the weekly episode of "Outside the Lines," and a report on mens teams being cut because of Title IX (which will be 35 years old this week), the athletic director associated with James Madison University made several statements.
As usual, he was attempting to cover up his butt by claiming they were other expense issues, and the fact they did not meet the female to male ratio for women in sports. He went on to state they opted for the one condition under Title IX that states schools may comply but just having the same percentage female students which represent the university as the same percentage of female students involved in athletics. His statement went:
"Currently at our university, over 62% of our student body is female, while the other 39% of students aremale. The same numbers are just not happening with our female sports."
Oops.
Well, maybe if you only included 100%, and not 101% or more of your student body calculated correctly, you wouldn't face that issue.
Education is a powerful thing. As is simple mathematics.
