Lions and Tigers and Bears oh my!
and Gorillas and Chimpanzees.
I spent the day today with my buddy Tim Sinn at the LA Zoo. We both had a high need to see Gorillas and Chimps and were not disappointed. I must say ~ being raised in San Diego has spoiled me. With the wonderful San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park - both a huge part of my growing up ~ the LA Zoo is lacking big time. Very small enclosures and a lack of open exhibits. But the animals seem well fed, and I didn't see any exhibiting the behavior of an under stimulated animal. No head bobbing - no pacing - none of the madness that can be a part of long term captivity. They should be commended for that at least. Although the exhibits smelled terrible.
Tim and I had fun - are were pleasantly surprised to find out they sell beer - BONUS!
After the zoo we went to El Cholo for margaritas and dinner, and ended our night at Boardners.
Tim and I have spent the last three Sundays doing things we wouldn't normally do on a Sunday - like - going to the movies (Benjamin Buttons) we hit LACMA last weekend - and i hope we continue to do so. Its been a nice break - and its nice to remember there are other things to do in this town that aren't crazy expensive.
Next Sunday I'll be recovering from the NAMM show - :)
