Hospitals at the holidays have got to be the saddest places in the world--the only place that might match them, I think, is being in the drunk tank on Christmas eve. I mean, I almost wish they would just pretend that the holidays were happening someplace else and just keep things professional and antiseptic

There's no easy answer for this, really. The only thing I can do is be here to support you in any way I possibly can (of course, all the while pointing and laughing at you). Just remember there are lots of us out here to lend a hand.

Sometimes the only thing you can do is let go. I know how very hard that can be. It is very hard to allow someone you care for to do such things. But your mental and physical health are being affected by this too. You have done absolutely everything you can.
