I've always grown up thinking that people are people and I either like them or I don't. I've never been one to pre-judge someone by their appearance, because what someone looks like has got nothing to do with who they actually are.
Apparently I'm more or less on my own with that, with the exception of Pete. I was talking to people last night, one of whom came out with the phrase "Well I suppose you're right, I suppose that little people (not the phrase used) do have the same feelings as us really if you think about it." I honestly didn't know what to say. I was completely and utterly gobsmacked at people's attitudes. Apparently anyone who is 'different' from the 'norm' is someone to be laughed at. Disability is amusing.
I reached the point where I stopped listening and trying to get through to people because I was getting a wee bit pissed off. I can't believe there are people still like that.
