happy, sort of

Despite only managing part of my exam due to my condition kicking in part way through; I passed. Can't say I'm happy with my performance on the one hand as I know I should have done so much better than that, but on the other I suppose that given the circumstances I did well.

One course out the way, many more to go.

OU works differently to conventional Univeristies; to get a degree you need to complete courses totalling 360 points - for it to be an Honours degree at least 120 points must come from level 3 courses. Now level 1 courses do count in the points total, but don't count for the overall grade (or something like that). I haven't bothered with level 1 courses (which are year 1 at uni); the course I just completed was a level 2; all my courses are either level 2 or 3.

As I say, although I passed and pleased in the circumstances I am also disappointed as I blew one of the essays as well as the exam. My highest score was 83%, however the worst one was 52% which is still grade 3 pass (it goes distinction, grade 1, grade 2, grade 3, grade 4, fail), but really isn't the standard I expect of myself.

My current course my first essay was 70% (grade 1), the second one 85% (distinction!) and I'm waiting for the third one back right now. I have to do an 'End of Course Assessment' for this course rather than an exam; this is a 2500 word essay investigation on a choice of two titles relating to archaeology. That has to have 3 copies posted to the dissertation office by 18th January. As I have got absolutely nowhere on that yet, I am starting to panic slightly. Still, it'll all work out one way or another... lol.

I am determined that I will come away with a 2:1 minimum, ideally I would hope for a 1st, but given that I already fluffed one course I doubt that's going to happen
