The DSA assessor man has been and gone this morning.
Made several suggestions which he's passing onto the OU - he reckoned that it should all be agreed no problem. I can't actually remember the names of all the software - I think one was Dragonspeak or something similar where you talk and it types. I think 'inspiration' was another a mind-mapping program and there was something else that I can't remember either (duh).
He also reckoned on a laptop stand, keyboard, tracker mouse and speakers for the laptop. A digital recorder and microphone, headset and mic for the software programme, my course books to be spiral-bond, audio stuff to be transcripts aswell as the audio. I'll get funding for printing, given that I end up printing more than 'normal' people to proof-read as I can't always deal with it on the pc. Insurance for the printer and help with getting to tutorials as I can't make it on my own I'll get funding for someone to take me and hang around waiting while I have the tutorial then bring me back.
I never knew that I could get help, or even that this all existed and is as wonderfully useful as it is - I had a go with the different programmes on his laptop and damn! those are brilliant. Completely brilliant. Now I just hve to wait and see what happens/how long it all takes. He reckoned on getting the report to me within 2 weeks.
Oh! Also it'll be noted about home exams and using the pc to type rather than writing meaning that for future exams I won't have to re-apply to have the exam like that. Fantastic. Life suddenly got a whole lot nicer.
