Christians against the redistribution of wealth and other things I don't get
So... where's the part of the Bible where it says "thou shalt not tax me for working hard" or "blessed are the poor, for they have an extra-special opportunity to work harder", or whatever it is that correlates so strongly with fundamentalism? I'm really confused.
Like, Jesus told everyone to sell their shit and give to the poor or whatever, but that's only because he wants everyone to have the opportunity to go to Hell if they so choose; it's not that he wants wealth distribution to actually happen, because then he would've said explicitly that governments are supposed to provide health care and food and stuff? Or maybe it's a metaphor or something, idk.
I mean, if Christianity is really planning on housing and feeding and caring for everyone, they should fucking do it already instead of shrieking that the government might take away their opportunity to do it voluntarily. Until then, I'm just going to assume that voluntarism is just not going to fucking cut it. Me, I'm fine with taking a progressive-schemed pay cut as long as it's being used to pay someone halfway-competent to sort that shit out.
(Like Christians are really against the use of "force"... the conservatives are all about corporal punishment more than anyone else, and apparently their model of True Love is "worship me or burn in Hell, literally". But yeah, just keep on celebrating your right to work 70 hours a week while slowly dying from cancer, you fucking psychos. Maybe when minimum wage is abolished, we can double that. I bet you'd love that.)
