There's a quote that I need to look up, but I can't remember it well enough to make it turn up on Google. It's something to the effect that "I love people with the same kind of curious and detached affection with which a collector loves his stamps."

EDIT: I love people. Everybody. I love them, I think, as a stamp collector loves his collection. ( Read more... )

The opposite of love is not hate. The opposite of love is indifference.

I know that's not what you're looking for, but I'm not indifferent about the quotation. :)

But you don't know the quote or its source?

No, I don't know yours. Sorry. Mine is Elie Wiesel, and my memory of the quotation differs from what a cursory Internet search yields. :)

You got it. Excellent. I spent 5 or 10 minutes with my print copy of Bartlett's before giving up. Looking closely through all the index entries under "people" wasn't so bad, but "love" was just ridiculous.

Anybody who says he or she loves everybody is full of shit. I mean, unless you define love as simply "having nice, vague feelings."

Yeah. And like I really want to be some horribly maltreated hooker just so I could get a story idea.

Anyway, I didn't write it. You might see what I need it for later, but it's looking way seriously tl;dr right now, and horribly rough.

"Anyway, I didn't write it."

Did *she* write it right before she physically expressed her universal love with her head in the oven?
