3 p.m. Thursday - It’s about to get a little bit crazier here. Helene has just been deemed a Cat 3 hurricane. Her eye is about 120 miles directly west of us in the Gulf, still heading for the panhandle and Tallahassee. It is supposed to get a lot worse from suppertime and on into the evening. Our area, about 40 miles below Tampa, is under tornado watches and warnings, predicting 4-6” of rain and some big storm surges for our coastline. They began evacuating Anna Maria Island yesterday and I believe they are not allowing anyone to come on the island now. I don’t think everyone left and TV just showed a crazy person trying to surf at Coquina Beach. The Skyway has been closed as of yesterday and I've seen many pictures of other bridges with water. Most all businesses are closed or are closing later today.
I was in the front and back yards yesterday and began picking up some things, putting some things in the shed, and laying some things down on the ground. This morning I went out and finished up all that I could and thought needed to be done. Pete guided me from the patio . . . it is very hard on him mentally not to be able to do what he used to be able to do.
We’ll probably lose power sometime and that worries me only because we need electricity to run the oxygen that Pete needs 24/7. FP&L is ready and waiting for the power outages. In the past they have been pretty good and act very quickly.
Well, that’s all for now.
