It smells a bit like some sort of seafood. I'm not sure what exactly it might be though. You don't come across much of it in a small village no where near the ocean.

Seafood? I've never seen food look like this from the sea. Shouldn't it be soggy?

Fish live in the sea.

Well, it's usually not soggy after it's been cooked.
