I'm alive and almost kickin
Yesterday I had my knee surgery. Long time coming. Let's hope this does the trick and I will be healthy after the swelling goes away. The surgery itself lasted about an hour and a half, and about 30 minutes after I was out of the OR they let me get up and walk around. That is so crazy that they have you walk around on a knee that was just operated on only a few minutes ago. I was only in a little bit of pain after the surgery, but since the IV painkillers and oxicontin they gave me in the hospital, its felt pretty good.
I went to the Dr. today and he told me what all he did during the surgery and gave me some awesome pictures. I had a piece of cartilage behind my patella that was coming off, so they smoothed that out. They also took out a bunch of other inflammed tissue and some of my fat pad behind my patella because it was getting pinched every time i extended my knee. He also said something about my ligament mucosum...not really sure what that is, but apparently its in front of the ACL and was all irritated so they trimmed that too. Having pictures of the inside of your own knee is so cool! And I am such a nerd.
I got my grade for my o-chem class last night and I rocked it! Getting that grade made my day. Oh yeah, and packing sucks.
