My editor sent me "flap copy" today. Flap copy is my new favorite word, even though it's two words. I shall hyphenate it if I have to. And, in the header of the copy was a cool little jumbling of words and numbers: ON SALE: 05/08/2007. OMG! This is so exciting! There's a date! But of course when I was blow drying my hair this morning it hit me: these are just words. The book may never get beyond the copy editing stage. (Damn! Is there no thought immune from self-deprecation? My ID or superego or the plush interior lining of my left brain is the nagging, self-esteem usurping mother I never had.)

But really, I am so naive to all of this. There's a "tagline" for the book that's pretty cute, except I don't even know what a tagline is. I only figured out flap-copy because it's sort of logical. But tagline...hmm.
