BROKEN PORT

Another scene right out of a painting. The ocean stretches out to the west and north, and hilly island terrain fills your line of sight when you turn your back to the water. Smells of sea and pine mix in the early autumn air, and the breeze that gently ebbs and flows like waves gives the place a comfortable temperature.

The remains of a seaside village lines the coast and tapers off as rock and tree take over, silent and empty. Scorchmarks on stone give one a sense of what could have happened, but there is no one around to confirm it. The wilderness is already in the process of reclaiming the land, completely uncontested.

There's still plenty to see, of course. Much of the homes that remain still contain old domestic treasures--even more than that, perhaps. And a little elbow grease and a bit of effort could get a couple of those fishing boats back into shape, if you wish. Nobody appears ready to bother you, so you have nothing but time.
