[ Well, good morning! Hope you weren't standing beneath her window, because the redheaded woman who lives on the second floor just emptied a large vase of dirty water out onto the sidewalk below. ]

[ From another room down the hall, a voice calls out, a bit matter-of-factly: ]

You mustn't do that.

Ah?

[ Aquarius tilts her head, pulling back from the window and back inside when she hears that voice. An absent, crooked smile (the sort that seems unsure of its own appropriateness, but appears nonetheless) touches her face. ]

But the flowers had already died, and the water was filthy, really.

[ There is a muffled snapping noise that comes from Virgo shutting the book that she was just reading, quickly followed by bare footfall and the swishing of heavy skirts. After a moment, a red-haired figure appears in the doorway. Chin dropped to look at Aquarius through thick lashes, she continues, as if delivering a lecture. Still there is a faint smile to her mouth; she is not cross. Not yet, at least. ]

Tubs. Sinks. Drains, sister. Not windows, surely.

Oh.

[ There's a thoughtful pause, another absent quirk of the mouth and a light shrug of her bony shoulders. ]

I suppose there's that too. But doesn't it seem a bit more fun to throw the water out the window? Everyone uses drains.

[ Another rustle of velvet around her legs as she shakes her head and approaches the window to look down now, and outside. The overall gesture of the way she carries herself is mild annoyance, but still there is something about her face that remains fond and understanding. ]

Yes, everyone uses drains and for good reason. That is because the drains carry the filthy, dirty water away to where no one will miss it. Using a window does nothing but endanger the heads of passersby. [ Craning back into the room she looks at her sister with arched eyebrows. ] And quite possibly ruin the sidewalk. Doesn't that outweight fun?

It's really just not as satisfying. There's not much space between the vase and the sink drain, you know. The water doesn't go very far before it's gone, and it's just not satisfying.

[ She sometimes has a way of talking herself into circles like this. But it's her nature, really. Like, appreciate the ways water has to fall before hitting a surface is in her nature. She's the Water-Bearer, after all. And if she doesn't appreciate the work of gravity on water, then who will?

Still, for love of Virgo, she concedes: ] Next time. Next time, I will use the drain.

[ Virgo smiles at her sister, patiently. True, there are times when she is not patient, but more often than not her meticulousness demands patience -- or else never get done. The answer, as always, is in the details and now with an air of slow understanding, she nods and says 'ah' and moves forward to loop and arm with Aquarius, pulling her away from the window. ]

Next time, next time. [ She repeats fondly and pats her sister on the arm. ] Next time, I shall find a way to make it much more satisfying for you, mm? I will have Aries fetch you a very tall ladder, high enough to reach the ceiling. And from there you can pour to your heart's delight. There, a solution. Does this please you?

[ Aquarius lets herself be pulled away from the window, her hands still carrying that vase almost absently as she listens to her sister offer a solution. Her expression seems almost pensive at first, but after a moment, a warm smile spreads across her face. ]

A ladder over a sink seems a bit unconventional, doesn't it? [ She makes a little pleased noise, as if accepting this solution as the best one. ] I do think I would like that.

Of course you would, Aquarius. [ There is no sign of condescension in Virgo's voice when she says this, just the same modest certainty that she tries to inflect in all of the things that she says. It is said that of the twelve of them, Virgo is among the most clever. She, herself, would never say this (of course), though there are times when she believes it. Leading her sister out through the kitchen, she moves to take the vase from her, placing her hands around it's fat center and raising her eyebrows at Aquarius, as if asking for permission. ]

This is empty now, sister. It is no longer yours to bear.

[He was off to the side, but all the same he did get a splatter of it on his fine black coat. He gives a loud, annoyed Mrrrrooooow to let her know what he thinks of her and goes back putting his coat to rights.]

[ That ginger head is already ducking back inside, but at that loud feline sound, it reappears. Aquarius peers down onto the sidewalk below, seeing the wet cat. Oh, dear.

She disappears again. But five minutes later, she appears at the doorway, creeping down onto the sidewalk to set down a chipped saucer of milk. Watching the cat curious and crouching, she pushes the saucer towards him. A peace offering. ]

[Well! He hadn't been expecting that. Most human types could be rude and inconsiderate and he gave them exactly that in turn, but there was no cause for rudeness in the face of dairy products. He jumps down from his spot, he approaches her with his tail it's delighted exclamation point.

The milk gets a careful cursory few sniffs before he begins to lap it up.]

[ A lopsided little smile, before she speaks: ]

I do beg your pardon, fellow.

[He lifts his head when he finishes, giving her a purring Brrrrrrraaow as way of pardon. He sits back on his haunches to clean his face delicately.]

Very gracious of you.

[ She shuffles closer, still crouching, and reaches out to stroke the fear between his ears. ]

I have a sibling that would like you very much, you know. Cats and the like.
