Greetings flist, it's been awhile.
I've been enjoying what's left of my holidays, and so I come bearing movie recommendations:
Slumdog Millionaire and Revolutionary Road.
I read somewhere that Slumdog Millionaire is a celebration of life. That is absolutely true. It's pretty unrealistic but if you can suspend your disbelief, it is one of those movies that shows that even though life does kind of suck, it's still awesome to be alive anyway.
On the other hand there's Revolutionary Road which I saw tonight and it's about disintegration of relationships and not being happy when you should be and all those other fun little things. Both Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio are excellent in it, very emotional, and I normally don't like Leonardo. Plus there were these lines:
"I have the backbone not to run away from my responsibilities.
"It takes backbone to live the life you want."
which really spoke to me, probably because I'm completely immature and the idea of settling down and acting "adult" scares the hell out of me.
But anyway, the only real flaw I thought, was the ending was really abrupt. But that's all I'll say.
Has anyone else seen either movies? And has anyone read the Revolutionary Road book? I'd be interested in taking a look at it.
