happy thanksgiving usa!

im glad im not much of a holiday person, i think i would be slightly upset for missing such a family oriented holiday in my current state. although i have decided to disregard my current living situation and various elements involved and make my last two weeks in florence the best two weeks ive spent here (minus last weekend with lahaina, which nothing can beat). the only way my situation is going to get any better is if i make it better. so, from this point forth, i will brush every little annoying, miserable thing (person) off and soak up all the GOOD things about this situation.

this thanksgiving i will be spending it with my roommates as well another house of girlfriends. we're doing it potluck style so we're all cooking a dish. i have chosen to be in charge of the sweet potatoes. i didnt want to use marshmallows and if im not mistaken, they dont exist in italy anyways, so ive made a yummy, tart and delicious dish with sweet potato, carrots and apples which i stewed in a yummy apple cider. its a sort of mashed potato thing and ive already tasted it, definitely a good choice. the other girls insisted on having a turkey (they spent 25 euro!) so we'll have the whole shabang, if brittany doesnt burn the house down in the process.

from tomorrow (friday) until sunday night (when i have to reload my internet card to skype charlie) i will not purchase one item in honor of "buy nothing day". im pretty sure its just supposed to be all day friday OR all day saturday, but i couldnt figure out exactly which one and i want to prove to myself that i dont need to purchase anything in a three day span of time. the only thing i really need is food and i already have that.

in exactly one week i will be catching an overnight train to paris to meet mom and ally. i seriously cant wait! im also super excited to travel alone, since this will be my first european train ride by myself. its going to be nice to not have to worry about anything or anyone, and will give me a taste of what january after lahaina leaves will be like.

i am thankful for you: dad, sibby, puppy, mom, sara, ally, lahaina, lindsay, charlie, ariel, sarelle, laura brack, ivan, jonathan, brendan, luke, rachel asher and everyone else in my life. thank you for existing and having some sort of effect on my well being (in a positive way!). I LOVE YOU ALL and wish you a happy and safe thanksgiving.

and, if you love me, you'll try out "buy nothing day" as well.
