There had been some conflict over where exactly to hold the barbecue, but the Burrow had won on account of having the largest garden space. It was an obnoxiously sunny day, so some spare sheets had been transfigured into a large white marquee tent with cooling charms, allowing those who wanted to to eat in comfort at the supplied round tables.

Someone had set out a separate plate of sausage rolls from the rest with "for Bolly" written on it, which was possibly intended as a jibe, but which Bolly genuinely appreciated. He took them, and a glass of sparkling cider, and went to sit where he could both watch people play games and eavesdrop on the adults in the tent.

"Nothing interesting. Either nobody knows anything about Nadya, or they're not talking about it in public," Bolly complained, uncovering a plate of Auggie's favourites and pushing it over. "Some people think mum and uncle Theo have a good chance of getting on the school board, but I don't know if they know that for sure, or they're just being optimistic."

Bolly nods. Mum can wrangle creatures, which is way harder than kids, and Uncle Theo is super smart and runs the Manor, so he knows all about keeping people safe. But still... "Mum should ask Aunt Elaine for tips. She got herself on the Wizengamot, and that's gotta be way harder than getting on the school board."

"Yeah? Okay!" He looks around and then stands up to look around more, and then briefly considers standing on a chair to look even more before deciding that's likely to get him in trouble. "I can't see her. Maybe she's inside?"

"They're probably having 'private' time," Bolly says, pulling a face. "I'll just wait until later. Mum doesn't need to be at the barbecue to talk to Aunt Elaine."

"What do you want to do after we've eaten?"

Dae takes a seat next to Bolly and offers him a fork for the, frankly, entirely too large piece of cake he has, "Help me eat this? I got distracted trying to understand the rules of lawn bowls but I don't really think the person trying to explain it to me really understood the rules either."

"You just gotta get the big balls as close to the little ball as possible," Bolly says with the confidence of someone who has never bothered to look up the actual rules of the game. "Oh! Hey, that's my lemon cake. I mean, I made it, you can eat it, that's allowed."

Dae looks at him with raised eyebrows, having just taken a big bite, and signs it's good.

Bolly looks pleased. "I was going to make banana cake, like usual, but Catalina said she was allergic, and you can't bring food to a place if you know someone can't eat it. That's super rude!"

"Is Catalina coming? I guess Fox might be coming," that makes sense to him, there's a lot of daisy-chained relationships that would end in an invitation to the Weasley family barbecue.
