Jax has been to Weasley family functions before and he almost always feels awkward. He really wants to make more of an effort with his family (and only like 50 percent of that is because of Sylvie).

Anyway he's sitting there making a real effort not to look grumpy or bored and to appear approachable. He's drinking water and nibbling on some chips.

[beingmari]

Mari has cookies she has to put down before she can (try to) hug Jax and kiss his cheeks. She will not be less French about it, she refuses.
"How do you feel? You finished!"

[theministersson]

Jax smiles and hugs her back, "It feels...weird, honestly. I mean, good. Kind of sad. Weird, is about the best I can do." He pulls away, "How're you? You look like you're about to have a baby."

[beingmari]

"I am! It's also very weird," she pats his shoulder, she's been there in the liminal space after school ends--and then she moved countries, and if she handled all of that more or less fine then she's sure he'll do great, "I think I would like to be done and just have a baby now."

[theministersson]

"Have you decided on a name yet?" He's not sure if Aimee told him. He's not even sure if it's a boy or a girl. He's tempted to encourage her to sit down but that probably wouldn't be appreciated.

[beingmari]

"Luci. It was Bolly's suggestion," she says, fingerspelling along with it. She knows it's not a big deal, not really, but such a fuss had gone into the gender of her first pregnancy that this time around she's refused to deal with it. A surprise for everyone!

[theministersson]

"That's a cute name. Bolly's a smart kid." Jax said. "Aimee's so excited, you'd think she was having a baby."

[beingmari]

"She almost is, she's the best aunt," Mari laughs. Aimee is, of course, the best everything.

[theministersson]

"She's a pretty great mum too," he said. He's not sure he's ever told her that. He probably should.

[beingmari]

Mari smiles, she knows for a fact how much that would mean to Aimee so she simply lightly suggests, "I'm sure she'd like to hear it."

[theministersson]

He's sure she would. He'll make sure to do that later. "Um, Sylvie is here. I think she feels kind of awkward." Sylvie can flourish in almost any social situation, he hates seeing her look so out of place.

[beingmari]

Nodding, Mari looks towards Sylvie and looks away. She doesn't want the girl to feel watched, "I'll talk to her. It doesn't matter who she's dating or not, we like her."

[theministersson]

Jax grins, "Thanks. I told her it would be fine. I think she needs to hear it from someone else."

[beingmari]

"She's a smart girl, she won't believe something just because a boy tells her," she says it with such affection though, it's clear she's just joking.

[theministersson]

"Yeah, she's pretty brilliant, but stubborn," Jax laughed.

[beingmari]

"You see? We like her!" Mari isn't upset Sylvie and Dae didn't work out. At least, not now that Sylvie is still around.
