All Endings End?

How do you know when a story is over?
I don’t know, how do you know when a drawing is finished?
It’s whenever you’re sick of working on it, or afraid that changing it any more will make it worse instead of better.
 When it looks real.
When all of the important parts (that draw your attention, either as a writer or as a reader) are fleshed out enough that they are, well, finished. Believable.
 Closure, maybe.
Some kind of resolution, even if it leaves you wanting more, it can still have resolved itself, and that can be an ending. Certain sentences, certain phrases, have a note of finality. Sometimes you can’t control when they come out, something behind your conscious brain is making the calls at that point, don’t you think? A little bit?
 Hmm.
