F*** Yeah, We Can Live Like This (or can we?)

Huh. So you guys know that I’m (almost) 40. Old. One of the (few and far between) joys of my job is getting to work with younger co-workers. I love getting them right out of college, training them, mentoring them, and then watching them move on to bigger and better things. One of the best things about my summer was when my intern, Sean, left ( Read more... )

He has clearly EXCELLENT taste in music. *g* Those are all wonderful bands. If you'd like an uncensored upload of that Jack's track, just yell.

I have the uncensored download and I love it. I listen to it all the time at work. Yes, he has fabulous tastes. YOU are always naming bands I've never heard of as well. I have been wondering if it's because they are bands that are more local to you or because I am hopelessly out of it.

That's good to hear. Censorship has no place in art! No, not local bands; NZ has a good music scene, but it's a little reggae for me. I belong to a lot of music communities that constantly bring indie bands to my attention, and I download a lot. (If I fall in love with the music, I do try to buy a hardcopy in NZ if I can, but if it wasn't for the wonders of the internet I'd never know of my bands in the first place). But I wouldn't say you're hopelessly out of it, just that some of them are obscure. *g*

Isn't it late...er...early there? mostlynormal1 November 15 2006, 12:46:28 UTC
I agree about censorship and art. I know that Australia has a strong music scene all it's own, but we rarely get it here. It's more likely for us to get Euro imports than anything from your side of the globe. I didn't know if NZ had a strong music scene or not. I love indie rock and have since college. The next time I have a bit of free time I'm going to check out your music recs.

Andrew McMahon has the purest voice ever and I'm a pianist too, so I appreciate his talent in that area.

On a completely unrelated note: aren't you leaving for Europe soon?

It's 2 am. Which isn't late for me! Oh, the manifold joys of being on holiday.

Australia has a very happening scene, yes. We haven't anything like it in comparison, but what we do have is much stronger than it was five years ago, so I hope it'll continue to grow. I should do a musicspam post.

Isn't he wonderful? One of my friends is madly obsessed with him. He even ends up standing and playing his keyboard with his feet when he performs live. He gets really into his performance. It's adorable.

I am! Or not precisely; I leave in early December, so I have just over three weeks to frantically get ready. Which certainly feels like 'soon' to me. :)
