There are a couple others floating around. You're worth quite a bit to someone in your world.

Do you want it or do you want it destroyed?

It's almost flattering.

Destroy it. I don't want to risk River seeing it if you bring it to me.

I will.

Listen, Tam. I owe you for putting me back together after Walter and Harry likes you. But they don't put numbers like this on two-bit criminals.

So you want to know what I did. That's fair...I'm not ashamed of it.

The truth is I stole something. You've seen the poster...my sister is on it as well, correct? She's what I took. The Alliance, the government of my world, were experimenting on her. It took me a long time to find her, to get her out, and I had to break a lot of laws to do it.

That's why my sister and I are fugitives. They want their experiment back, and I'll do everything in my power to keep her safe from them.

I used to work for that type of government. You're better off here. They don't give up.

I'll burn the poster. What do the symbols on it mean?

I know.

Symbols...? Oh, that's probably Mandarin.

You have a different written language, too?

No. It's just that everyone where I'm from can speak at least two languages: English and Mandarin, each in varying degrees of fluency.

Locked; this took an odd turn. mostly_spice October 5 2008, 05:02:52 UTC
Huh.

Will you show me the symbols for Mandarin?

Locked; Simon agrees, how random. keepyou_safe October 5 2008, 05:05:22 UTC
The communicators will just translate it to something else, but I can write a few for you the old fashioned way.

Locked; she's got this thing about reading. mostly_spice October 5 2008, 05:07:50 UTC
I wonder if it'll be easier or harder to learn than written English.

Hm. Thank you.

Harder by far. English has twenty-six letters, Mandarin has several hundred characters each representing different sounds or whole words. But if you want a challenge I'll show you all the ones I know.

It's no trouble.
