The time has come. The Save the World by Overloading It with Fun with Haruhi Suzumiya Brigade is looking for new members, and will be releasing an application! I will be posting the IC part of this later this weekend, but for now, here's everything you ever wanted to know about the SOS Brigade.
What is the SOS Brigade?
Haruhi’s club which had the original purpose of finding aliens, time travelers, and espers, and hanging out with them. However, it mostly just does whatever fun things that Haruhi feels like doing. It also does consulting for people who are experiencing strange phenomena.
What kind of things does the SOS Brigade do?
Whatever Haruhi feels like doing! This can range from missions of seeking out the extraordinary to friendly competitions to parties to paranormal investigations. Really, everything the SOS Brigade does is living life to the fullest and having a lot of fun. Well, at least it is for Haruhi. I cannot promise that things will always be fun for innocent bystanders and people who are easily bossed around. (But seriously, most activities are just a lot of random fun.)
Who should join the SOS Brigade?
Aliens, time travelers, espers, sliders, etc.... would have been Haruhi’s answer. But the whole reason this Brigade is getting started up is because space is losing its shiny awesomeness. Aliens are so not interesting anymore! Haruhi needs to find more exciting people to have fun with, and they have to be different!
For some reason - I suspect the power of irony - a lot of Haruhi’s friends are ordinary human beings. So, really, “interesting” just means “able to get along with Haruhi and be at least a tiny bit unusual.”
BUT anyone can and should apply for membership! It’s Haruhi. You really can never predict who she’ll end up befriending.
I have a terrible time trying to describe this. If you have questions, feel free to ask me something specific so I can try to answer it better than this.
How many people can join the SOS Brigade?
It depends on the applications! I was thinking 7-10, but we'll see.
That isn’t a lot.
I know. Haruhi is very selective in her Brigade membership!
What if I don’t get in?
Fear not! Haruhi always needs Other People to drag into shenanigans. Not being a Brigade member doesn’t mean that you can’t participate in the fun. And Haruhi will keep all the applications so that if she ever needs to use someone, she’ll know who they are.
Non-brigade allies are very important. Think about where the SOS Brigade would be without Imouto-chan, Tsuruya, Taniguchi, and Kunikida. No baseball game, no movie...
Also, this is not the end-all chance to get into the SOS Brigade. There will always be more opportunities!
What if I do get in?
Then you’ve just signed over your soul. Congratulations!
Not really. You’ll just get to go on the occasional Official Exploration, participate in games Haruhi feels like playing, and anything else I can think of doing. Don’t worry, all of the boring work is for Kyon.
