5. Yeah, we realised we might not have been that clear. It hadn't really been an issue before that though, since we didn't really have many deaths. We've tried to clear it up somewhat though, but if you could point out what was confusing, that would help! Also, that's part of the reason why we want people to let us know when they're plotting to kill off a character - we can check what they're planning and make sure they're not skipping out on the penalties.

8. It's definitely not law! But the S.S. Thor functions as a gigantic city, and even though the captains have their reasons for rescuing refugees, the other inhabitants can be a bit more wary, and there are about five million of them (we've never stated this number before, but it was always meant to be a city). So far, it's only a few players who have used this for plot, and it's come up in the news sometimes, but it hasn't been stated anywhere. Which is why we're doing it now. /o/

We don't mean for it to be a huge plot or anything, or something that will become a problem or greatly affect characters' lives. It's just something to keep in mind and that can be fun to use sometimes!

5. Well, basically, I was told to "throw him for a loop." I can think it's pretty clear how open-ended and confusing that kind of thing is, given that his heart was stopped, and he wasn't, you know, drawn and quartered or something terrible like that. What does this loop entail? Is it physical? Mental? Psychological? Should he forget memories? Should I erase his CR? Should it be permanent?

The problem really is, I think, is that characters (or, at least, my character) is/are not inclined to socialize when they can't walk/talk/think straight. If you say "well, you're aphasic for four days," then Alex will gag himself under the mask and lock himself in his room for four days. I think if you want penalties to have some kind of lengthy, longstanding effect (and death to be a serious event), you need to have permanent penalties, and serious ones. i've seen memory loss in other games, or even some sort of physical or other mental loss. my suggestion would say "your character loses something permanently; you must run this through with a mod." that way, you don't get people saying 'well derp my character can't tie his shoes" or something like that.

This might be unclear. I apologize.

8) I was under the impression that Thor is predominantly, if not ALL refugees. How did everyone else get onto the ship? Why? Do they live in separate places? How would you be able to tell who was a refugee and who wasn't? It doesn't make sense to say that all refugees are humanoid, because there are plenty of alien characters to app. These kinds of questions.

just want to echo the thoughts here- how on earth could any alien tell who is a refugee and who isnt

also yes, i agree with the sentiments on more severe death penalties

I'm gonna swing in here and answer to the best of my ability real quick!

5) For this we wanted players to be able to do whatever they wanted with their character and judge for themselves. MH is a game based on allowing players the freedom to choose what they want to do with their characters, as you guys are the ones who know your characters best. The mods don't want to decide for you, but instead we want to give you the space you need to make these decisions for yourselves. At the same time we're more than happy to collaborate with you guys to help come up with ideas.

8) The Thor is actually a huge turtle shaped city that doubles as a refugee pick up. If you'd really like to go into backstory, consider how many refugees have been picked up over the years, them starting families, rising to the top. There have been plenty of aliens born on the Thor as well.

As for knowing who's a refugee and who's not-- the characters in the game aren't the only ones, so no, they're not all humanoid. Not only that, but.... uhhh... have you ever seen the film Titan A.E.? Think of it that way: news travels fast when a planet has been destroyed, and along with that just what species from said planet have survived and made it onto the ship.

And like Caten said before, it isn't meant to be a huge plot thing. Your character doesn't have to be affected if you don't want them to be. It's just a resource to use in the future if you so desire!
