I've been noticing there's some misunderstanding as to just how short tall Edward is. Because, he's actually not as short as he used to be; he's grown over the course of the manga. But not everyone's read the manga, so when you see a bunch of people going MIDGETSHRIMPSHORTY... eh, it happens. I've been trying to correct whenever it comes up, but let's go with a pre-emptive strike.
Exhibit A
Chapter 17 : Ed's a couple inches shorter than Winry
Chapter 48 : Ed is the same height as Winry, if not a little bit taller.
Chapter 84 : Ed is about 2-3 inches taller than Winry
But Winry herself could have grown, she's the same age at Ed after all and still growing herself. So let's look at someone who definitely hasn't grown. Al.
Exhibit B
Chapter 9 : Ed is about halfway between Al's waist and shoulder
Chapter 76 : Ed is at about the lower edge of Al's shoulder (yes, that is not actually Al, but for all intents and purposes it is)
That's about six inches. Which puts Ed around 5'5". Still not quite 'average' height, but not as obviously stunted as he used to be.
Am I saying cut out the short jokes? NEVER. :/ But someone going HEY MIDGET over the network when they've never even met Ed in person is stretching it a bit.
