Dialogue: Old Fashioned Christmas

Dec 12, 2012 13:52

The scene: Morning, the MUNCHKIN's room. I am helping him get ready for school when PATOOT saunters in.

ME: Eamon and I were just talking about his Christmas list, honey. What are you asking Santa for this year?

PATOOT: Hmm. A Star Toy.

ME: ...A...STAR toy?

PATOOT: Yes. And a pen.

ME: A...pen.

PATOOT: Yup! Oh! And a goldfish.

ME: That might be hard to deliver.

PATOOT: Oh yeah! And an iPod.

ME: ...

ME: A WHAT?

PATOOT: An iPod!

ME: Six year olds do not get iPods.

PATOOT: Uh-uh, Henry brought HIS iPod in for Show-and-Share Day.

ME: (silently curses Henry's parents) Well...I don't think Santa and his elves make things like iPods.

PATOOT: (considers this) Ok, then YOU can get me one.

ME: Oh I can, can I?

PATOOT: (grins widely, happy to have that sorted out) Yup! (skips out of room)

ME: (*blinks* Turns back to the MUNCHKIN) And what do you want again?

MUNCHKIN: I wanna Hulk. HULK SMASH!

ME: Seems reasonable.

Fin.
