IT ALL ENDS on Friday. So. What to Wear?

Jul 13, 2011 14:48

Ok, so CLEARLY I am geeking out that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 opens this Friday. And CLEARLY Esposo and I already have our tickets (to the grown-ups only Luxe Level where we can have cocktails and real apps!). And CLEARLY - since this is me we're talking about here - I am already planning what to wear.

To the movies.

But it's not just any movie. Oh my no. It's an End of an Era movie. A movie that folks my sister's age (25-26) will go to and say, "Well, it's official. My childhood is over." Because their entire childhood *was* spent poring through JK Rowling's insanely good series and going to see the always successful movies based on the books. I often lament that I didn't have something like Harry Potter when I was a kid, but it didn't stop me from enjoying it any less as an adult.

Anyway, what I'm saying is, this isn't just a trip to the movies. It's kind of A Big Deal.

So with that in mind, I have been OCD-ishly plotting out Friday night's outfit in my head all day. I think I have settled on my favorite dress this summer - a cute jersey shift dress from Ann Taylor Loft. It's a plummy color which is ALMOST like Griffindor maroon. Bonus! And because this movie is all about Good vs. Evil, I have a pair of strappy gladiator-style sandals in a faux snake skin that will look fab. So thematic...but stealthily so.

Of course, I couldn't stop there. I DO work for a jewelry company, after all. There is a very irrational part of me that wants to dash to Urban Outfitters and pick up one of their myriad adorable owl necklaces. But it seems kind of impractical because I already have a pair of owl earrings. I figure I will wear them with my slim snake bangle to again evoke the whole Harry/Voldy theme.

So, to clarify...

The Good

equals:

(Well, not the peace signs. Though I expect Harry would have liked some peace in his time.)

and The Evil

equals:

(All right, so those obviously aren't my bangle. I didn't have a picture of it. But how cool are these?)

Never let it be said that I cannot find the right accessory for any, and I mean ANY, occasion.

fashion babble, jewelry, harry potter, movies, books
