Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming...

So the Esposo told me yesterday that our local Y is currently offering the following deal: a three month membership for $90. Which works out to $30 a month. Let's do some math, shall we? If I actually took my yoga class only once a week, it would work out to be $60 a month. Not like I've been to my class in a dog's age, but you're picking up what I'm putting down, right? SAVINGS.

At first I kind of raised my eyebrows - I am NOT a Gym Girl. But then Esposo uttered the magic word:

POOL.

The West Roxbury Y has a pretty decent indoor pool. In which, if I felt so inclined, I could swim laps. I loooooove swimming. It is my most favoritest of all physical activities. I never took a class and was certainly never on the swim team, so I don't know any legit strokes or anything. And I probably look like a drowning seal out there. But even so. I looooooove it. I could swim for hours and not even register I was tired until after getting out of the water.

(See? See how happy I look here? Um, also: see how WEE Patoot was??? *sniff!*)

It's stuff like this that makes me wonder why I wasn't born a Pisces, but I digress.

I'm gonna do it. At the very least, I can swim Thursday and Friday afternoons in the summer when Esposo gets back from teaching summer school. And if we have a slow weekend (as if) I could sneak in a swim one or both days. The real challenge would be trying to swim every other day (aka, during work days) to get the maximum benefits, but I'd have to see...

1. How early the pool is open on the mornings I work, and
2. If I'd be willing to actually wake up that early.

And the best part? Now I can TOTALLY justify buying those two new bathing suits! If I wore the same one all the time, I'd completely wear it out. I was just being PRACTICAL, you see. Yeah. That's the ticket.

SIDE NOTE: I also just realized that, while it probably wouldn't be anywhere as good as my old studio, the Y probably offers yoga classes to members too. Bonus!
