I just saw an update that said "I wonder what God wants me to do with my life". I have a response.

WHO CARES?! Geez. When you get a pet, do you hope to mold every piece of its life? Do you have some ultimate plan for its existence? Or are you really hoping to instill some morals (in a primitive sense; don't poop on the rug, don't bite people, etc.) and then INTERACT with something that has its own form of autonomy?

I think that role, between people and a pet (like a dog. Fish don't count as pets.) is exactly the role that was intended to be had between God and people. Why would anyone - even an all-powerful deity - go through all the trouble of that whole creation thing with the ultimate goal of puppets who don't always listen to the directions you're trying to give them? That is pointless. Therefore, my belief is that God tries to teach us the right morals, and then we are free to do what we want. Whether his goal is one of friendly interaction, like between a person and a dog, or simply to revel in creation, I don't know or particularly care; it's not my business. But I AM pretty damn sure that we aren't a bunch of contrarian puppets billions of years in the making.

Unless God is a masochist and likes being frustrated by our refusal to follow vaguely-alluded-to plans. But I doubt that.

I feel like I had more to say, but an awesome (phone)call made me lose my train of thought. Ah well, I think you get my point.
