A book arrived in the mail today. I'd ordered it a couple of weeks ago from half.com, because a friend had said I should read it. I'd forgotten I ordered it. It was quite a thing to open the package & discover it.
I read the entire thing cover to cover on the train today. What I do when I read a book is, if I come across a passage that particularly speaks to me or that I want to reflect more on later (or that I want to post to my LJ!), I turn up the bottom corner of the page. Well, as I progressed through the book more and more corners got folded, until for the last third of the book I think every single corner is folded. I should just publish the whole damn book to my LJ. LOL Don't worry, I'm not gonna bore you all with tons of it. But I do have a couple of quotes to share today. These aren't even my favorite quotes from the book - & later I'll post some that won't be just quotes, but that I'll actually for a change add my own comments/questions to... but these two just seem particularly fitting for the last day of a year.
1:
"What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly."
2:
"Don't be dismayed at good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again.
And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends."
