Wanted (2008 film)

APPEARANCE:
BAM PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: --
PERSONALITY:
OH BABY FACE. So 6 weeks prior to the end of the film Wesley Gibson was a no-good pathetic chum who is overworked, overstressed, takes anxiety pills to control himself, living in a shack that houses him and his girlfriend who's cheating on him with his best friend, needs books on how to improve his self-esteem in general, apologizes too much, and -- the list of how he's so much of a personal failure goes on and on and on. That's probably why it's so much easier for him to shed his old life: Wesley's never been fond of being the underdog, and the Fraternity, as much as they've contributed to his growth and cynicism, also offered him a method of escape from his horribly mundane, anxiety-filled life.
Of course, this also provided him new things to stress himself out of, but Wesley Gibson at the end is a more capable fucker than the useless chap that he was when he used to be in his cubicle counting the days until his job ended. It's practically salvation, if he wanted to be ironic about it.
SON OF A GUN. Wesley calls himself "the perfect weapon", and not without sarcasm or anything; he's actually convinced of himself that he is the perfect weapon, and not just because the Fraternity taught him well -- it's also because Wesley, possibly given the repetitious nature of his former job of being an Accountant, has taken training to a whole new level by repeating pain and various methods of testing his body over and over again until he is satisfied with himself. To that effect, Wesley is a perfectionist: he will not strike unless he is absolutely sure that he can win. He has also stopped questioning this whole pesky idea of Fate and Goodness, so being amoral definitely helps him see everything with a darker shade of grey on the morality scale: Wesley believes that people are okay, but they also have the capacity to fuck you up, no matter how close you are to someone, or no matter how well your intentions are; and sometimes (as Wesley knows perfectly well), the persons closest to you are the only ones who can fuck you up real good. Wesley is cautious about who he trusts, and in the end, opts to live alone in his dad's house, distancing himself from the world he came from in an effort not to be affected by that same bullshit again. He learns his lessons really well.
I'M JUST A BOY WHOSE INTENTIONS ARE GOOD. That's not to say that Wesley is intensely grey and black about everything. Wesley has been duped by the Fraternity, the only organization he's considered being a part of given how close it allowed him to feel to his father -- until they fucked him over. Wesley was given the chance by Pekwarsky, a former associate of his dad's, to have a better life other than the one that Cross had: a chance that Wesley turned down in favour of revenge, because goddamn, he's been repressed all his life up to his point, he's not going to turn back and run away anymore. But the whole crusade and downward slip to being an assassin originally started with nicer intentions: he wanted to avenge his father, he wanted to be closer to him, he wanted to be as best as he would have him, and he's fascinated by the idea of being a SUPERCOOL ASSASSIN holy shit. Never one to give peace a chance (he already knows how boring that is, which is exactly how selfish he is), Wesley opts to redeem himself by killing the Fraternity members one by one, until he's the only one left standing. He counts his successes by the number of bullets he fires, which, while repetitive, tends to yield better results than just scowling and pill-popping as he was back when he was a no-good chum.
FUCK YOU! FUCK OFF! That doesn't mean that Wesley is a tragic character, though. Far from it. He tends to get over his emotional responses really well, knowing how dangerous it is in his line of work to be entirely mired by his feelings. He has a tendency to swear, to show off, and be in people's faces whenever he feels like he has to. He doesn't trust people as he would've back when he was a no-good chum (I'm just gonna call him that pre-Fraternity throughout this section). He's highly observant, ridiculously stubborn, and most of all, driven. He knows he's never gonna fit back into the society that, frankly, never took well to him the last time he checked, anyway, so being a loner assassin is totally fine. Survival's always been a key skill of Wesley's, and sometimes he comes out nigh psychopathic as he ruthlessly gets the job done. Finally, he's highly intelligent and innovative when he has to be, although he'd prefer the bullets to do the talking first / most of the time.
DETONATIONS AT A DISTANCE. Relationships are the one thing that Wesley doesn't do well. He's never done it well when he was a no-good chum, and becoming an assassin just made him even more apathetic about forming meaningful relationships with anyone, possibly because there's always the threat that any bond can be used against him as a weakness (see: his father). Outside of the Fraternity Wesley's more or less apathetic towards a whole lot of people, and he's more than content to give them smiles and silences as responses because he feels that they either a) he's not obligated to tell them anything or b) he just can't be bothered to give a fuck. He's more than capable of being acquainted with people, certainly, but closer relationships are not really his thing: he barely even talks to his girlfriend, even after he left; and the only real possible friend he has was Fox, who is already dead. He's not about to make up for these things, either. He's perfectly fine being by himself, and that's probably part of knowing what and who he is at the end of the film.
ABILITIES:
LET'S GET PHYSICAL. Wesley has SUPERH00MAN ABILITIES. This means his strength, speed, reaction time, endurance, senses, etc. are better than the average joe. Given that he's an assassin, and the best of his kind (considering he's the only one remaining at the end from the Fraternity, as far as we know anyway), this makes him very difficult to fight, coupled with the ingenious fighting styles that the Fraternity forced him to come up with while still being taught. He also has this insane thing about physics: with guns, he can curve the path of their bullets with some superior Bernoulli-effect schtick going on so that they will hit his target/s no matter how impossible the angle is. He's a rather superior fighter, but his weapon of choice is guns. Wesley is also tenacious and incredibly driven whenever his focuses are sharpened like fuck, and he will do anything to get his goals accomplished. This will often include unorthodox methods of killing and destruction, such as his brilliant move to implement and improve his father's idea of blowing up a textile mill with rats and peanut butter. The kicker is that IT FUCKING WORKS.
Randomly, he can also hit you with his ergonomic keyboard until FUCK YOU comes out of it, like so:
WATCH OUT. Of course, Wesley's not always the ~*perfect assassin / weapon that he claims to be. For one, he has a temper, which tends to make him act irrationally. Having learnt from the Fraternity that bullets speak louder than words, Wesley has no qualms about making his irritation felt, no matter how bluntly subtle he has to go about it, such as that epic scene where he kills Sloan by having the bullet go through a circuitous route involving his hellish boss, his cheating girlfriend, and his dickface of a bestfriend. Another thing is that no matter how jaded he was after 6 weeks of dealing with the Fraternity, Wesley's still a kid. He still wears his dad's coat, for fuck's sake.
Lecturing Wesley is not a good idea. He will tune you out, and if he can't handle it anymore, he blows up. He's always more fond of showing and acting out on things rather than actually talking about ~*his feelings. We're talking about a guy who moved from taking anxiety pills to control himself to shooting people pointblank. Authority is not something he likes, and if he can get away with something, he totally would do it.
POSSESSIONS:
1 - His dad's coat, which he uses frequently.
2 - two guns (USP COMPACT / BROWNING HI POWER).
3 - idk, his wallet?
