She sits across from him, setting the plate and cream container down. "That's brilliant. Oh, I do love coffee, but Mummy and Daddy won't have it at the house. I smuggle in chocolate covered coffee beans."
The waiter comes by and Mikey orders a coffee for himself and another for Bella.
"That is a true tragedy, Miss. A true and horrid story. I have few vices, or at least I like to think I only have a few, and I would miss having coffee as one of those."
Bella elects to have her coffee black, with little sugar.
She pushes the plate of lemon meringue pie towards him. There's a little fork with it! She's so thoughtful. "Oh, I'm sure the mangoes will be perfectly all right. Not my favourite fruit, but well, you can't love everything best. I got shouted at by my sister for stealing the last slice of pie for you, but comfort eating can't possibly be healthy, so I was really doing her a favour, I think."
"I can't quite get other fruits to stay together right. They either go too hard or too soft. I've got mangoes timed to the second. Please, enjoy." He slides over the plate and jar - oh, right and snags a cutlery set from the next table over.
Mikey drinks his coffee black and unsweetened. Mmm, pie.
"We-ell..." She swallows a mouthful of crepe -- mmmm, tasty -- and tilts her head to one side, thoughtfully. "I'm the eldest of two daughters," which isn't entirely true, but she prefers not to think about Andromeda. "A daughter of the most noble and ancient house of Black, as the saying goes. Toujours pur being our family motto. I'm engaged to Rodo--sorry, whoops, Antonin Dolohov."
"My friend from back home, Ike, I think he's related to the Black's, through the French side? Through, oh lord, what's his father's name. It'll come to me. Anyway, congrats on the engagement. I don't know the fellow, but I wish you all the best." And the wacky thing? Mikey really does wish her the best. He wishes just about everyone the best. What a muffin.
"Thank you," Bella says, at the well wishes, and then tilts her head to the other side, trying to place 'Antares'. "That sounds familiar, the name, but I can't quite place it."
"Like I said, distant and vaguely French. He tried to explain the whole family tree to me and it just didn't work. I know that somehow, somewhere we're, Ike and I, we're related - like fourteen cousins back, but neither of us ever plotted it out." He pauses, it's excellent pie. "Hey! That means we're somehow related."
"Ike and Mic are my two best friends from back home. We're damn good at what we do." He proud! Yay! Go Team Mikey!
"It's all rather complicated and nasty, but the long and short is there was a war, but it didn't end cleanly. Real mess about the place. There's been rationing, purges, and the Blackout. No magic allowed."
"Ike and I are the brains - he thinks of things from a Slytherin view and I toss out Gryffindork ideas, while Mic sorts out the logistics. Can it work, can we get the supplies, things like that." He shrugs, "We're basically making a nuisance of ourselves. Nothing glamorous, but, well, someone's gotta do it."
Bella has a covered plate with a large slice of lemon meringue pie, and has with her a small container of fresh cream.

"I brought the crepes. I hope you like them. If you don't like the mangoes, they're also lovely with sugar and lemon juice."

"Very altruistic of you, Miss."

"I have her best interests at heart," she deadpans.

Oh, goodness. It's pie heaven.
"So, umm, I don't know too much about you, Miss. Umm. Right. Care to share any very pertinent details I should be aware of?"
