Tyler. Rose Tyler. You can just call me Rose though. Don't mind.
Sometimes, yeah. We get these curses. Lately they've been all right though. Some people got sick and had bright red noses a few days ago. We had a blizzard, bunch of us wrote letters to Santa. Some people robbed stores and the like. I think most of it was given back since it was a curse. There was mistle toe all over the City and everybody was kissin' everybody.
S'not so bad as some people make out. I think the City's brilliant. [She's in the minority though.]
That is just...[There's a pause as she mulls all this over. It's all just beyond weird. Not that hasn't experienced weird before but that is just a whole other level.] Very bizarre.
Oh? Unable to go home though. That is troubling. Why do you find the City brilliant, Rose?
It happens here. [That's meant to be comforting but Rose is fairly sure it isn't. Not if Amanda is anything like the Doctor and it sounds like she might be.]
S'nice to meet you, Amanda.
[Rose nods a bit] Yeah. Lucked out here. You'll be all right though. People are lovely here. Helpful and kind, y'know?
Yes I am sure that it does...[There's a pause as it's all still sinking in. Surely Nick would've noticed her being missing and that troubles her most of all, especially after recent events. She snaps out of her thoughts to focus back on Rose. She gives the woman a small smile.]
Nice to meet you as well, Rose.
Well it seems that way so far. Tell me these curses that hit, can they be avoided?
Far as I can tell, there's no way to avoid 'em. Some of the dangerous sorta ones that affect the whole City can be avoided by stayin' in your flat I guess.
We had these...weepin' angels one day that if they touched you, you got pulled into this sorta nothin' for a day or so. There were rampagin' unicorns. My mate got stabbed by one in the leg. Some people started wantin' to...eat each other. Durin' Halloween people ended up bein' werewolves, vampires, zombies, that sorta thing.
[Rose won't burst her bubble and mention that a Time Lord who traverses time, space and dimensions like they're major highways can't get out. Or that someone human with a great deal of determination that ripped through parallel dimensions is stuck as well. It's better she come to that realisation all by herself.]
Made my choice a long time ago, before I ever ended up here. I've got the Doctor, my mate, here. M'all right with not bein' home.
[Of course she misses Jackie, Pete and Mickey sometimes but not with any desire to return.]
Definitely not Destiny or HomeWorld Command. It's called The City. Doesn't make a lotta sense I know.

[Amanda appears to be frowning trying to figure all this out.]

[Rose presses her lips together before she answers.]
Yeah, don't like that we can't leave. Bit of a problem but I've got mates here that I thought I'd lost back home.

[Her expression grows more troubled. This is really not good.]
I'm Dr. Amanda Perry. But you can call me Amanda. And I'm from...
[There's a pause from her.]
I'm from 2010. I was aboard the Destiny. But I am from America.
Ah. How very fortunate for you, Rose.

That's some time to be away. You don't miss your home at all?

The Doctor? That's some name. It's a nickname, surely, yes?
