Kimberly Ford, Seer of Brennin, lay unconscious on the bed of the greatest mage in Fionavar. Arthur Pendragon had spoken long into the night with the mage, Loren Silvercloak, and his source Matt Sören, but by dawn both the mage and the dwarf were yawning. Arthur said, "Sleep. I'll watch over her."
Loren and Matt protested, but when Arthur said, "I have been resting a long time, after all," they could hardly argue. They made up pallets for themselves by the hearth -- Matt refused to use his own bed, in case Arthur should want it -- and were sleeping soundly when Kim began to stir.
