While the extreme changes in climate had not much altered Darcy's daily activities, he had been glad enough to see things revert back to something close to normal. A change to the English countryside might have been more welcome, but by that time, he was well used to tropical jungle. Furthermore, the return to a typical island environment meant that he could begin work on the stables, which was vastly overdue.
Having completed his morning ride and rubbed down his horse, Darcy retreated to the cool confines of New Pemberley, upstairs to the water closet, where he washed his face and hands. It was not particularly odd that he had failed to spy Elizabeth on his way in -- She was, as ever, prone to wandering walks -- but he did peek into the bedroom, just to be certain she was not in a sulk.
